IELTS Letter Writing: Lost Luggage - Request for Assistance

Write a letter to the manager of the Lost and Found department of the railway regarding the luggage you accidentally left on the train. In your letter

• give the details of your train trip;

• describe the luggage you left on the train

• say what actions you want him/her to take.

Dear Sir/Madam,

    I am writing to inform you about an unfortunate incident that occurred during my recent train trip and to request your assistance in locating my misplaced luggage. I accidentally left my belongings on the train, and I hope that the Lost and Found department can help me retrieve them.

    I was traveling on the 7:45 a.m. express train from Manchester to London on 10th July 2023. The journey lasted approximately two hours, and I was seated in Coach C, Seat 23. The train departed on time and arrived at London Euston Station at 9:45 a.m. I disembarked in a hurry and completely forgot to retrieve my luggage from the overhead compartment.

    The luggage I left on the train is a medium-sized black suitcase. It has a built-in lock on the side and a small identification tag attached to the handle, bearing my name and contact information. Additionally, there is a distinctive red ribbon tied around the suitcase's handle for easy recognition.

    I kindly request your assistance in locating my luggage. I would greatly appreciate it if your staff could check the train compartments to see if the suitcase is still there. If found, please send the luggage to London Euston Station and I will make arrangements to come and collect it as soon as possible.
