IELTS Letter Writing: A Letter to Improve the College Cafeteria Experience

You eat at your college cafeteria every lunchtime. However, you think it needs some improvements. Write a letter to the college magazine. In your letter,

• explain what you like about the cafeteria

• Say what is wrong with it

• Suggest how it could be improved

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to share my thoughts on our college cafeteria, a place I visit daily for lunch. While there are certain aspects that I appreciate, I believe some improvements are needed to enhance the overall dining experience for students.

Firstly, I appreciate the cafeteria's convenient location on campus, making it easily accessible during the lunch break. The variety of food offered is also commendable. The quick service by the cafeteria staff allows students to get their meals swiftly. This enables us to make the most of our limited lunchtime.

However, there are some areas that require attention. The lack of sufficient seating capacity during peak hours often leaves students struggling to find a place to sit and eat comfortably. This overcrowding leads to inconvenience and rushed meals. Moreover, the current hard, backless benches often cause discomfort. These factors combine to make it challenging for students to have a pleasant dining experience and fully relish their meals.

To enhance the college cafeteria experience, I recommend the following improvements. Firstly, address the issue of insufficient seating capacity by expanding the dining area or creating additional space. Secondly, upgrade the seating arrangements with cushioned chairs to enhance overall comfort. Lastly, implement a feedback system to gather student opinions regularly. This enables the cafeteria to tailor the menu to diverse tastes and dietary preferences.

I hope my suggestions will be considered, and the necessary steps will be taken to improve our college cafeteria for all students. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Nathan Morrison
